Reflections on Season's Greetings Video

Please write your reflection underneath your holiday greeting video on your blog.
1. Review the comments you made about other videos. In looking at and thinking about these, what do you feel you and your partner did a good job on? Consider all elements, including the story, the images, the editing, the sound, titles, credits and copyright, and your creativity.

2. What would you like to have done that you saw in two other groups’ videos? Why did you especially like what those groups did?

3. What specifically did you do to create your group’s video?

4. How did you help your partner? How did your partner help you?

5. What would you do differently if you had another chance to complete this project?

Five Take-Aways from Other Cyberbullying Videos

Discuss five ideas, techniques, concepts, or strategies you learned about creating good videos by watching other groups' videos. Embed their videos into your blog, and below each video, discuss the specific elements that you learned about by watching their examples. Refer to specific portions of the video, so that others could go to that portion and watch the example for themselves.

In discussing the five things you learned, refer to AT LEAST TWO other videos from either class.

Green Screens

Post your green screen workshop results.
Describe how a green screen works.
What are the important considerations in filming with a green screen?
What are the problems that can arise when trying to eliminate a green screen background?
Which technique was easier--using Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects?
Other thoughts?

Reflections on Your Video

If you've already written a reflection on your rough draft, create a new post that adds anything below that you left out. Labels: cyberbullying, reflections

What parts of your video are you most satisfied with and proud of?
What comments from others were helpful to you in creating your final draft?
What changes did you actually make on your final video?
What changes would you make if you had another day or two?
If you had the chance to do the project all over again, what would you do differently?
What realizations, discoveries, and understandings did you reach about creating videos?
What other thoughts do you have about your own project?

Cyberbullying: Information Gathering

Use the link to What Do We Need to Know about Cyberbullying  for resources in your information-gathering.

By now you should have
a) logged into the Cyberbullying site with the ability to edit.
b) created your own page with note forms copied in.
c) taken notes on one web page and one video.
d) taken notes on two articles (notes on paper in your group's folder)
e) helped your group identify most important ideas from your reading and viewing
f) brainstormed some ideas about what to include in video to share key information.

Have you...?

Commented on another person's Interview project? Go to the blog list in your block and click on the name below your's. Remember, we're looking for two positive observations and a suggestion that would make the video even better. Refer to specific parts of the video in your comments.

Project 2: Baler Interviews

Now that you've had a little practice using Premiere Pro to edit, it's time to create a real product that will be seen by others. Here are the requirements:
  •          Choose at least five responses to the interview questions about being a Baler or what is great about SBHS. Edit together in the best logical order. We're looking for good choices of clips and clean in and out points on edits. You do NOT need to include a person's entire response.
  •          Include a title that reflects the content of your video.
  • Include credits at the end that say, SBHS Teledramatic Art Block___. Edited by____________.
  •          Export as an F4V file to YouTube, embed into blog
  • Tag the video and your reflection: project_2, video_editing, sbhs, reflections.
  •          Write a reflection:
o   About the product:  Critique your final product. What skills does the final product show you have learned? What did you like about the final product? What would you like to improve on or learn next that would help you create better products?
o   About the process: Describe what you did to help your partner and what your partner did to help you. What helped you understand or best figure out the skills you needed to learn? What challenges did you face/overcome with the technology?

Thinking about Values and Video

Your first big project will be to create a video like the ones on the Values.com website.  You already looked at several of these. Now post the video below ("Wet Cement") to your own blog, following the instructions for embedding a video.
Below underneath the video on your blog, answer these questions:
--What is the message of this video?
--What actions communicate the message?
--What do you notice about the elements the filmmaker included? Think about facial expressions, the position of each character, when we see the cement worker, the contrast in voices, the light, the camera angles, and any other elements you can pick out that help communicate the message.
